Prelude:

Words of Scripture: Based on Psalm 1

Leader: God, today, we rejoice and praise Your holy name,
People: Because you have kept us from a destructive path.
Leader: We give thanks because Your word gives us hope,
People: And we reflect on Your word at all times.
Leader: You are the Source of deep seated faith,
People: And our spirits are refreshed in your presence!

Singing to the Lord: Ephesians 5:19
You are Holy
Nothing but the Blood,
pg. 195

Prayer of Confession:  Father, not only do we battle daily with sin, we wrestle with our love for sin. Things that turn our hearts from you, things that blind us to your goodness are far too important to us. Our sin is great and so often we try to make up for our failures and earn your approval. But Your Gospel teaches us that Christ exchanges his righteousness for our sinfulness. God, may the wonder of this great exchange erode the grip of sin on our lives. May your gift of salvation through Christ cause our hearts to overflow with gratitude and joy, in His name we pray, Amen.

Assurance of Pardon: This is a faithful saying and worthy of all who accept salvation; Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. In Him, we are forgiven.
